Community Trust Focus | Aberdeen

Tuesday, 18 April 2017

This weekend Aberdeen take on Hibernian in the first William Hill Scottish Cup semi-final and across the Scottish FA’s social and digital channels, we are focusing on each of the teams involved as well as their work in the local communities.

Aberdeen’s Community Trust (AFCCT) was established as the official partner charity of Aberdeen FC in March 2014, with the vision “to provide support and opportunity to change lives for the better.”

A significant focus of the work undertaken by AFCCT has been to develop and increase wider community engagement well beyond ‘just’ football.

This work is done in close partnership with other like-minded groups and organisations, involving participants of all ages, some aged over 100 years-old.

AFCCT have programmes addressing dementia, inactivity, obesity, social exclusions, social deprivation and more.

The Dementia Friendly Wellbeing Programmes are delivered by Aberdeen FC Community Trust (AFCCT) along with key partners including Life Changes Trust and Alzheimer's Scotland, Aberdeen Sports Village, Sport Aberdeen and the Aberdeen City Council Health and Wellbeing Team.??

With extensive support from Life Changes Trust, AFCCT has attempted to create an environment suitable for those living with dementia to become involved in health and wellbeing programmes through a person-centred, city-wide partnership approach for people living with dementia.??

They have also been able to develop its own programmes into Dementia Friendly Wellbeing Initiatives and as a result events have been held at Pittodrie Stadium, focused on engaging those living with dementia socially and mentally in a safe and calming atmosphere.

Aberdeen FC Community Trust is changing lives for the better and strives to provide support and opportunity to everyone they can across North East Communities.
