John McGinn provides Scottish Cup Christmas cheer

Friday, 01 December 2017

Dad-of-three Dean Reilly has tirelessly fundraised for charity since being diagnosed with MS.

As well as running seven marathons, he’s raised over £100,000 for research into the condition.

Sadly, not everyone’s blessed with the Niddrie native’s selfless spirit and he was dismayed to return home last month to find the kids’ Christmas presents had fallen victim to a heartless burglary.

Middle-child Michael even had his prized mini replica Scottish Cup swiped from his bedside table.

To try and soften the blow they were invited for a special after-hours tour of the Scottish Football Museum and The National Stadium.

The Hibernian-daft family were then invited to follow in the footsteps of Scottish Cup winning Hibs skipper David Gray to raise a replacement mini replica trophy up above their heads.

What they didn’t expect was ‘Santa’ to walk out and deliver the real thing, before revealing himself to the boys’ hero for club and country, John McGinn.

John was only too happy to make the trip through from Edinburgh to play his part in the heart-warming surprise.
