Signeul pens Euro 2017 deal

Tuesday, 10 January 2017

Scotland Women’s head coach Anna Signeul has signed a new contract lasting until after Euro 2017 this summer.

Under Signeul’s leadership Scotland reached the tournament for the first time in their history, and join England, Spain, and Portugal in Group D.

The Swede took charge of Scotland in March 2005, and has since helped to revolutionise women’s football in the country, taking her side to 21st in the world.

This month Scotland will take on Denmark twice during a training camp in Cyprus on Friday 20th and Monday 23rd January.

They will then take part in the Cyprus Cup between 27th February and 9th March against Austria, New Zealand, and Korea Republic.

Scotland have also arranged a friendly against Belgium away from home on Tuesday 11th April, kick-off 8pm (7pm UK time) in OH Leuven.

After signing her new deal, Anna Signeul said: “I’m delighted about the new contract and focussed on preparing as best as possible for the Euros.

“The next six months will be very intense and they will fly by as we have so much to do.

“I’m pleased we get to play two competitive games against Denmark, who are a tough side, but we feel well prepared.

“It will be a good start for us before we go on to play in the Cyprus Cup and against Belgium.”
