Scottish FA continue CashBack initiative

Thursday, 04 May 2017

The Scottish FA and Scottish Government have continued their partnership in delivering the CashBack for Communities programmes until March 2020.

Since 2008 the two organisations have worked to make a strong impact in communities across Scotland providing free football activities for people aged between 10-24 years-old.

Thousands of young people have benefited from projects supporting volunteer development, schools in deprived communities, participation opportunities and much more.

The last nine years of partnership with the Scottish Government has been incredibly beneficial to communities across the country and whilst the new three year agreement will continue to do this it will be more focused on the most socially deprived areas and seek to use football to support those who may not readily access development opportunities.

The work on phase four began on 1 April 2017 and will continue through until March 2020 whereby we hope to continue to make a strong impact on those young people who love the game and want to make a positive contribution to society.

Key projects:

My School of Football: An attainment and aspirational programme aimed at individuals between 12-14 years old at a high-risk of exclusion and potential offenders. Built on its previous version in terms of its delivery however the focus on this new and improved version will be on sustainability.

The delivery will take place over 36 schools targeting more than 900 individuals with daily football coaching that will seek to develop their social and cognitive skill set during their time at school. We will be ‘re-profiling’ the financial support into only the most deprived areas.

My Volunteer & Inspire Project: Aimed at 180 young people aged 16-24 years who will be placed on individually developed learning pathways including coaching courses. This programme will utilise stakeholders and place volunteers in appropriate roles useful to their development.

My Inclusion Community: Targeting 10-24 year olds in diverse community groups and those in protected characteristics living in high social deprivation areas with bespoke opportunities to take part in the sport and integrate within their community.
