The South West region has many different ways for new coaches to take their first steps on the coaching ladder. We have a full programme of coach education that runs throughout the year in the five local authorities we cover. The courses run in a variety of ways, on a variety of different days to make sure that we have something to fit in with busy schedules.
If you are a new coach at a registered Quality mark club, the club can apply for a discount for certain courses through our Club development managers. Please speak to the coach co-ordinator within your club for further information on this.
Students at the colleges and University in our area can apply to come on our courses for free but they must agree to undertake a certain amount of volunteer hours, depending on the level of coach education they wish to undertake. From there we endeavour to place the volunteers with our development officers and Quality Mark clubs to ensure they have a route to practise the new skills they have learned. For further information on this programme please contact Alan Sloss on 07841 569802.
Female coaches who are new to the game can access female only coach education courses which are scheduled at different intervals throughout the year. For further information on this please contact Shirley Martin on 077506 461838.
The region offers a wide range of in-service sessions throughout the course of the year. These sessions cover a wide range of topics from pre-season training sessions to 11 v 11 workshops. All information on these courses can be found in the regional brochure.
