What You Can Do to #MakeFootballBetter
Supporter Liaison Officers (SLO) – Clubs playing in UEFA competition now have to have a named SLO and the idea is spreading to other clubs throughout Europe. The SLO is someone who will speak to fans to help them with problems they may encounter and work with club officials to improve the experience of following the team.
They have been a great success, particularly in Germany, where the SLO does everything from arranging travel to meeting with Police and stewarding companies.
Find out if your club has an SLO or speak to the club about how they might benefit from having someone in this position.
More info on SLO’s can be found at Supporters Direct’s website
Supporters Charters – Supporters Charters are negotiated agreements between Clubs and fans that outline each other’s rights and responsibilities. Most Clubs already have Supporters Charters but every few years it’s good to refresh these to keep them relevant.
Why not use the Fans Charter to revisit your club’s Supporters Charter and work together to make the matchday experience better.
Football Supporters Europe will shortly publish a Supporters Charter Handbook so keep an eye on their website at Football Supporters Europe
Matchday Meetings – Many clubs know how valuable it is to bring fans, safety authorities and club representatives together to make sure everything goes smoothly on matchday. Sometimes this only happens for high profile fixtures but at other clubs there are regular meetings throughout the season.
Get in touch with your club to see if they organise matchday meetings and how fans can get involved.
