Following an action-packed Preliminary Round, the draw for the Scottish Gas Women's Scottish Cup First Round took place on Sunday evening.

Celtic defender Caitlin Hayes joined host Eilidh Barbour to make the draw.

Hayes lifted the Scottish Cup trophy in May, as Celtic were victorious in the first season since the competition had been revamped.

122 goals were scored on an exciting Sunday in the Preliminary Round. The 16 winners - along with Dalbeattie Star who had received a bye - joined the 11 Scottish Women's League One sides in the hat.

Edinburgh South were the top scorers in the Preliminary Round and they were drawn at home to Dyce Women.

Stewarton United - who edged McDermid Ladies in a nine-goal thriller - were also given a home tie, against League One side Falkirk.

League One's early pace-setters Forfar Farmington will take on Queen of the South in Round One.

Hayes spoke to the Scottish FA after the draw to reflect on her side's victory in last season's competition.

She said: "I'm delighted to be a part of the Scottish Gas Women's Scottish Cup draw for the first time. I've watched a few so it was great and I'm just thankful I didn't drop any of them.

"Playing at Hampden Park was a monumental moment in general for women's football to be on this stage. To represent little girls who are in the crowd, thinking 'when I grow up I could be on this stage' - it was huge for me.

"And I'm just thankful that Celtic were represented on this stage and we managed to take the trophy.

"There's always something special about a cup campaign. Everyone loves being a part of it and anyone can win, with it being winner takes all in each game.

"We've won it the last three times which is exciting but it also puts a target on our back and we're ready to defend what we see as ours."
