The Scottish FA Coach Education Department are set to run another two bespoke female-only UEFA C Licence courses later this year - following the success of last year's offering.

The UEFA C Licence (Youth / Adult Pathway) and the UEFA C Licence (Children's Pathway) awards will both get underway with inductions at the end of June.

However, the courses do not kick off in full until October - with this break designed to give interested candidates a chance to complete any awards they still require to meet the entry requirements for the UEFA C-Licence.

Through funding received from the UEFA Coach Development Programme for Women, students will also be offered the chance to complete the course at a vastly discounted rate. This discount also applies to any interim courses they need to complete prior to October.

The completion of this course will give successful students a UEFA accredited award and allow them to progress onto the UEFA B-Licence.

14 aspiring female coaches completed a UEFA C-Licence last summer, with Scotland Women's National Team Head Coach Pedro Martinez Losa in attendance. Since then, the Scottish FA Coach Education Department has split this award into two tailored sections: one for the Youth / Adult Pathway and another for the Children's Pathway.

Greig Paterson, Scottish FA Head of Education and Development: "Developing the female coaching framework is a key component of Accelerate Our Game and we have made significant progress in this area, with notable increases in female attendance across our courses.

"Female coaches may still find themselves in the minority on some of our awards, however, so it is important that we continue to offer these bespoke services when required, and encourage female attendances through discounted courses as well."

Martyn Buckie, Grassroots Coach Education & Development Manager, Scottish FA: "Following the success of last year's award, we are thrilled to be able to an additional two courses in 2023.

"During the application process last year, it was clear that some female coaches were interested but could not fulfil the entry requirements, so we felt it was important to include opportunities for prospective candidates to gain the required awards between now and October.

"Once again, we are grateful to the support from the UEFA Coach Development Programme for Women which will allow coaches to complete the awards for a significantly discounted rate."

Female coaches applying must email catherine.sharp@scottishfa.co.uk by Friday 23rd June, 2023, providing their full name, DOB and Coach ID when applying, as well as providing the specific course details in which they wish to apply for.
