As It Happened
On a dreich night in Glasgow, Flower of Scotland got proceedings underway followed by the famous Hampden roar.
Scotland took the lead of the game with only 6 minutes on the clock when a corner was played into the box and the ball fell to the feet of Callum McGregor who fired a first time finish into the bottom left corner of the net sending Hampden Park into eruption.

Play was suspended in the aftermath of the Scotland goal and the players left the pitch due to the weather conditions. Following a lengthy delay, play resumed just after 9:30pm with 9:40 on the clock and Scotland leading 1-0.
Lyndon Dykes came close to scoring in the 15th minute when he got himself on the end of a Kieran Tierney cross at the back post area. However, his header went narrowly wide.
Scotland had a perfect start to the second half as they doubled their lead in the 46th minute. The ball bobbled around the edge of the box area before falling to Scott McTominay who dispatched an effort into the bottom left corner of the net.

Deep into stoppage time, a VAR review saw a penalty awarded against Aaron Hickey. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia stepped up to take the penalty. However, his effort went over the bar.
A late night at Hampden Park, goals from Callum McGregor and Scott McTominay in either half saw Scotland take all three points which ensured they will stay top of Group A going into the next round of international fixtures in September.
