Scotland Head Coach Steve Clarke has named Ryan Gauld and Ben Doak for the forthcoming fixtures against Poland and Portugal as Scotland get set to kick off their inaugural campaign in the top tier of the UEFA Nations League.

Vancouver Whitecaps playmaker Gauld will be aiming to make his Scotland debut ten years on from his only previous call-up, while Liverpool winger Doak will also be hoping to make an impact having been forced to withdraw from the preliminary squad for UEFA EURO 2024 earlier this summer due to injury.

Fellow uncapped players Robby McCrorie and Max Johnston are also named in the squad, while Tommy Conway will be hoping to add to the Scotland cap he earned in June following his recent move to Middlesborough.

Talismanic forward Lyndon Dykes returns to the squad after recovering from the injury he picked up in Scotland training before the EUROs that cruelly ruled him out of the tournament, while New York Red Bulls forward Lewis Morgan retains his place after being a late call-up for Germany.

The squad is the first to be named since Celtic captain Callum McGregor announced his retirement, while experienced squad members Stuart Armstrong, Liam Cooper and Ryan Jack, all of whom are currently free agents having left their respective clubs in the summer, are left out on this occasion.

As well as naming a refreshed squad for the upcoming fixtures, Clarke has also announced a change to his coaching team, with Alan Irvine joining the setup. The vastly-experienced Irvine, who will combine his national team duties with his role at West Ham, replaces James Morrison, who has left the Scotland coaching staff in order to focus on his club career.
