Scotland under-21s head coach Scot Gemmill has named a youthful playing group ahead of his side’s upcoming friendly matches with Mexico and Sweden, which will take place in Spain later this month.

Nine players remain from the squad’s most recent outing, including Everton striker Fraser Hornby and Rnagers defender Ross McCrorie.

A number of Gemmill’s squad have made a significant impact in this season’s Scottish Premiership during the season so far, with Motherwell’s David Turnbull and Lewis Ferguson of Aberdeen just two players to have caught the eye of observers nationwide.

There will also be a few new faces travelling to Spain with the squad – George Johnston and Patrick Reading, of Liverpool and Middlesbrough respectively, will be amongst those representing Scotland for the first time at this age group.

Scotland will travel to Spain for their first fixtures of 2019, as they look to build momentum ahead of their opening UEFA European Under-21 Championship Qualifier against San Marino later this year.
