The stage is now set for the first ever Women's Scottish Cup Semi-finals to take place at Hampden Park, following Sunday's live draw.

Scottish comedy legend Greg Hemphill joined host Eilidh Barbour to conduct the draw, with Celtic, Glasgow City, Motherwell and Rangers remaining in the revamped competition.

First out were SWPL1 leaders Glasgow City, who were paired against Scottish Cup holders Celtic.

Rangers were then drawn against Motherwell in the other tie.

The matches will take place over the weekend of Saturday 22 and Sunday 23 April. The ties will be confirmed in due course and ticket information will be communicated by the clubs.

Hemphill was back for more after conducting the Men's Scottish Cup draw at Tannadice last season.

He said: "I want to always do the draws professionally because I love it that much. I think it should be me every time! But it's really good fun. It's really exciting.

"I've always been a football fan. I've got quite a mixed family. My brother in Vancouver is obsessed with Scottish football. Whenever he comes back he always tries to see a game.

"My dad supported Partick Thistle. It's in the bones as it is for most families who live in Scotland."

The actor and writer spent much of his childhood in Canada and he believes that the popularity of the women's game in this country is catching up with the popularity it has across the pond.

He added: "We're a little bit behind but with any new league and competition, it's coming on year on year and it's getting more competitive.

"Sports fans are embracing change. They're embracing the choice that they have.

"You always see it after major tournaments and suddenly the interest just burgeons and I think that's really great.

"The European Championships last summer was never off in our house last year. It's wonderful to see.

"It's incredible that the Semi-finals of this competition will take place here at Hampden. It's the home of football in Scotland and this is where it should be. It's great that it's happening."

Hemphill reflected on his earliest memories of Hampden Park - a Scotland match against England in the 1980s:

"It was a phenomenal day. We started out in the town and then we headed up to the South Side. It was my first time and the stadium wasn't all-seater in those days in the mid-80s.

"There were easily over 100,000 people in the stands. The atmosphere was like nothing I've ever experienced because I'd grown up in North America where sports fans are less partisan. Away fans mix with the home fans.

"So the experience is something I'll never forget."

Hemphill is best known for his work alongside Ford Kiernan on hit comedies Chewin' the Fat and Still Game.

Chewin' the Fat included a number of sketches involving football, although he admits it was a conscious decision to avoid the sport in Still Game, adding:

"In Still Game we always avoided talking about football, religion and politics. It was a mantra because we wanted to unify and not divide people.

"But before that I presented Off the Ball. I worked on Only an Excuse. That was one of my first theatre jobs. I got to play Brian Laudrup!

"It was just the best job ever. The fans of that show were so loyal and it was a privelege to be supporting Jonathan Watson."

Quarter-final Round Up

Motherwell were the first team to book their place in the semi-finals with a comfortable 4-0 victory away to Glasgow Women. Carla's Boyce's penalty had them ahead inside three minutes and she doubled the lead early in the second half as well.

Loran Doran-Barr made the game safe with a stunning 25-yard half volley that went in off the crossbar.

Boyce then completed the scoring by securing her hat-trick, diverting Kodie Hay's cross into the net to make it 4-0.

Next up was Celtic's trip to Hearts and the Jambos threatened a shock as Monica Forsyth gave them a half-time lead.

But Celtic went through the gears in the second half and Hana Kerner's first Hoops goal make it 1-1 before Claire O'Riordan gave them the lead.

Shen Menglu, Chloe Craig and Natasha Flint all got on the scoresheet in the last 15 minutes as it finished 5-0.

Glasgow City also booked their place in the hat for the draw but lowest-ranked side Kilmarnock did not make it easy for them.

The SWPL2 third-placed team impressed in their defence for large periods against the runaway SPWL1 leaders, who eventually triumphed 3-0.

Goals from Kinga Kozak and Jenna Clark were added to by a Reese McCulloch own goal in the second half as City booked their first trip to Hampden Park.

Rangers wrapped up the Sky Sports Cup in December and they showed they are in the mood for a cup double after hammering Hibernian 6-0 at Broadwood.

After Lizzie Arnot's opener, three goals in four minutes from Rachel McLaughlin, Sam Kerr and Brogan Hay effectively ended the game as a contest before half-time.

Captain Kathryn Hill made it 5-0 on her return from injury and 17-year-old Scottish FA JD Performance School graduate Emma Watson made it 6-0 from the penalty spot to complete the rout.
