FIFA Women's World Cup Qualifiers
Hungary v Scotland
Friday, 17 September, kick-off 7pm (UK time)
Hidegkuti Nándor Stadium, Budapest
Beginning a new era under manager Pedro Martinez Losa, we open our Group B campaign with a trip to Hidegkuti Nandor Stadium in Budapest on Friday.
It is the first fixture of the September international window, with Faroe Islands at Hampden Park to follow on Tuesday.
Team News
Martinez Losa has had to contend with a number of changes since naming his 23-player squad at the start of the month.
Kirsty Smith, Lucy Graham, Caroline Weir and Lisa Evans are all out of the original squad and will miss the opening fixtures.
Rachael Boyle and Lizzie Arnot have both since been called up, with Glasgow City's Lauren Davidson and Jenna Clark potentially earning their senior Scotland debuts, having also been added to the squad.
Previous Meetings
The last time we took on Hungary was back in September 2017, as goals from Lana Clelland, Claire Emslie and Jane Ross sealed a 3-0 friendly victory in what was former Head Coach Shelley Kerr's first match in charge.
Pre-Match Thoughts
Pedro Martinez Losa is aware of how important it is to make a strong start in the bid for World Cup Qualification.
The manager does not shy away when it comes to outlining his ambitions. Top spot in the group is something the Spaniard believes he and his players have to strive for in order to give them a chance of achieving those goals.
“The most exciting part of football for everyone is to play and to compete,” he said. “We have objectives we are aiming to achieve and we are all excited to test ourselves, see where we are and go up against Hungary.
It's the start of a new era.

“We have to take the group game by game. Of course we will aim for first position in the group, we know that is difficult but if you dream and aim for first position you give yourself a better chance of achieving that.”
He added: “Friday’s match is just the start. It will allow me to see how we are doing and where we are and we will be ready to give our all to win the match.”
Where can I watch
The match will be broadcast live on BBC Alba, and you can also tune in to listen to the game on BBC Radio Scotland.
