As It Happened

The opening period saw Celtic keep possession and make their way into Rangers' box a number of times, however the Rangers defence remained strong and were able to clear the ball before Celtic could have any clear cut chances on target.

The 30 minutes that followed were fairly end-to-end with both teams creating chances in each other’s boxes and challenging the goalkeepers. Joe Hart saved a Fabio Silva effort low in the 6-yard-box before Jack Butland made a fingertip save to push the ball away from the danger area. This meant that the sides went into the break level at 0-0.

Rangers had the ball in the back of the net in the 58th minute when James Tavernier played a corner into the box which was put in at the back post by substitute Abdallah Sima. However, the goal was disallowed by VAR due to a push from Nicolas Raskin on Joe Hart at the corner, and the score remained level.

A fierce second half saw a number of yellow cards for each side. Both goalkeepers were called into action late in the game with Joe Hart saving an Abdallah Sima effort, before Jack Butland was called out of his goal at the other end of the park to gather the ball from the feet of Daizen Maeda.

Celtic took the lead of the game on the 90 minute mark. Paulo Bernardo made a great forward run before firing an effort from distance towards goal. The initial effort was denied by Jack Butland however substitute Adam Idah was in the right place in the box to slot home the rebound and win the game for his side.
