End to end football for the majority of the first half saw both teams create a number of chances but great defending, from Scotland especially, and chances that went narrowly wide of the target saw the game remain 0-0 for the first 30 minutes.
It was the visitors that opened the scoring in the 32nd minute. Kyle Walker fired an effort towards goal which deflected off Phil Foden, finding its way into the net from a few yards out.
England doubled their lead a few minutes later. Phil Foden played the ball into the box which was knocked away from the danger area by Kieren Tierney however a failed clearance from Andy Robertson resulted in the ball falling in front of Jude Bellingham who pounced at the loose ball and put it in the back of the net.
Scotland grabbed a goal back in the 67th minute when captain Andy Robertson drove down the wing before crossing the ball into the box which England substitute Harry Maguire turned into his own net.
