Greece v Scotland
UEFA Nations League Play-Off
Thursday, 20 March 2025 (7.45pm kick-off, UK time)
Stadio Georgios Karaiskakis, Piraeus
Scotland are in Greece for the first leg of our UEFA Nations League Play-Off.
Steve Clarke's side flew to Athens on Wednesday night, with their focus set on preserving a place in the top tier.
Morale is high after back-to-back wins over Croatia and Poland in the last Men's A international window.
Team news
There is a fresh feel to the first squad of 2025, with first senior call-ups for talented teenagers James Wilson and Lennon Miller.
There's also a debut call-up for striker George Hirst, and you can hear his first thoughts from the camp in our exclusive sit-down interview.
The group is also boosted by the return of defender Kieran Tierney for the first time since last summer's European Championships, while Lewis Ferguson has recovered from the injury that kept him out of that tournament
Greece narrowly missed out on automatic promotion in the Nations League to group winners England β despite a memorable 2-1 win at Wembley. The only game they lost throughout the campaign was a 3-0 defeat to England in Athens.
Pre-match thoughts
Captain Andy Robertson will move third in the all-time men's appearance list should he make his 81st run-out for his county in Greece.
He is as determined as ever to lead his team to glory.
He said: "I love playing for Scotland - showing up for every camp - and I want to get as many caps as I can. Wherever that takes me. I'm incredibly proud to get to 80.
"When we look back on the Nations League campaign, we had a lot of positives to take from it.
"We competed in every single game which, when you're in the top tier against the teams we were playing against, was always going to be difficult.
"We were in every game. We always showed up. Sometimes fine margins didn't go our way but two wins in November and the draw in October set us up for this game.
"The confidence was growing within us again and you could see that in the performances.
"These are top nations we're talking about. We held our own and we want more of that."
