As It Happened
A night under the lights at Hampden Park with the belting out of Flower of Scotland from the Tartan Army getting proceedings underway.
Scotland took an early lead in the game thanks to a Scott McTominay goal after seven minutes. Andy Robertson pounced on a slip from Pedro Porro and played the ball to McTominay in the box who kept his composure to fire a first time finish into the bottom right corner of the net, erupting Hampden Park.
Scotland came close to scoring again in the 14th minute when Ryan Christie ran half the length of the pitch and made his way into the box before having an effort towards goal that went narrowly past the right hand post.
In the 23rd minute, Joselu saw his header denied by the woodwork and 5 minutes later a header from Spain captain Rodri went over the crossbar.
Deep into stoppage time in the first half, Scotland had a huge chance to double their lead. Lyndon Dykes ran onto a clearance up the park and drove into the box however his effort over the outcoming Kepa Arrizabalaga went narrowly over the bar.
Scotland started the second half almost identical to the first, a goal from Scott McTominay within the first 10 minutes. Kieran Tierney won the ball in defence and drove down the wing, getting away from Dani Carvajal and making his way into the box. His cross into the box was blocked by the Spanish defender however the ball fell to Scott McTominay who fired it into the back of the net for his second of the game.
A perfect night under the lights at a packed out Hampden Park saw Scotland beat high ranked Spain 2-0 with Scott McTominay grabbing both the goals. The result means that Scotland top Group A going into the next international break in June.
