Striker Tommy Conway was handed the captain's armband for the first time after spending last week training with Steve Clarke's full squad, along with Rangers defender Leon King and Manchester City midfielder Lewis Fiorini, who both also started.
As It Happened
It was still 28 degrees at kick off and the heat may have contributed to a slow start to proceedings at the venue, just a few miles from Benidorm, although Jeremiah Mullen did well to produce an excellent last-gasp tackle on Norway's Daniel Seland Karlsbakk.
Scotland were enjoying lots of possession, with Connor Barron getting on the ball in midfield and looking to create but Scot Gemmill's side were struggling to create any clear-cut openings.
Cieran Slicker was then called into action midway through the first half, making a decent save from Bryan Fiabema midway through the first half.
It took Scotland until seven minutes before the break to get a first flicker of an opportunity, but Conway went too soon to collect Celtic prospect Ben Summers' pass and was adjudged to be offside.
Slicker was impressing in the first half and he stopped Petter Nosakhare Dahl from giving Norway a lead when he raced from his goal to save from the KFUM Kameratene winger, before he then turned a low shot from Karlsbakk round his post at the end of the first half with his best save yet.
Scotland made four changes at the break, with Lyall Cameron, Matthew Anderson and Ben McPherson all coming on to make their debuts alongside Connor Smith.
The young Scots improved noticeably after the break, with Connor Smith doing well to find space early in the second half but his shot was too close to the goalkeeper.
These two matches against Norway will act as Scotland's final pieces of preparation before they begin the Euro 2025 qualifiers in September, and Gemmill opted to utilise his squad by making a further five changes on the hour mark - with Azeem Abdulai, Dire Mebude, Lewis Neilson, debutant Liam Smith and Ryan Duncan entering the fray.
Liam Smith and Mebude both made an impact, showing flashes of skill in tight areas, while Scotland were much more dominant in terms of possession after the break.
Leon King was the sole remaining outfield player who had started the match but he failed to complete the 90 mins, limping off in the last ten mens after Scotland had used all their outfield substitutes.
Abdulai deputised well at centre-back, however, and despite finishing the match with 10-men it was the Scots who finished in the ascendancy.
Scotland were very nearly rewarded for their efforts in the heat as a jinking Mebude went on a brilliant solo run before striking the post when through one-on-one with the goalkeeper.
Liam Smith very nearly marked his debut with a goal but the rebound was saved as Scotland had to settle for a point despite a strong finish to the match.
