Netherlands v Scotland
UEFA Nations League: Group A1
Friday, 27 October, kick off 7:45pm (UK time)
Goffertstadion, Nijmegen
Scotland return to action on Friday as they travel to Nijmegen to take on Netherlands in the UEFA Women's Nations League.
Pedro Martinez Losa's side lost narrowly to England before snatching a last-gasp draw against Belgium through a Sophie Howard header as the Nations League got underway in September.
In a competitive Group A1, all four sides are separated by just three points.
Scotland will host Netherlands in a return match at Hampden Park on Tuesday evening. Tickets for this match are still available here.
Team News
Manchester City goalkeeper Sandy MacIver and Celtic midfielder Jenny Smith have both been included in the squad for the first time.
Kathryn Hill and Jenna Clark are also back in the squad, although midfielder Sam Kerr misses out through injury.
Caroline Weir and Emma Watson are also both absent as they begin their recoveries from the serious injuries suffered during the last camp.
Pre-match thoughts
Scotland full-back Nicola Docherty: “We are really excited, we know it is two important games and we are raring to go and hopefully we can get some more points on the board.
“We always knew League A was going to be difficult but this is a place we want to be.
"We have proven in the last few games that we can really compete against these teams. We have been working hard behind the scenes on getting better every day.
“We kind of came off the last camp on a high.
“Of course we lost the game against England and we got that late equaliser against Belgium, but there is confidence we can certainly take, especially from that second half against England and showing that resilience against Belgium as well to make sure we got that vital point.
“You look at the England game, especially in the second half, I thought we competed really well.
“It is going to be no different against the Netherlands."
Previous Meetings
The sides last met just over a year ago, as Scotland travelled to Zvolle for a friendly to prepare for the upcoming World Cup Qualifier against Faroe Islands.
The match saw Netherlands boss Andries Jonkers take charge of his country for the first team and it was the hosts who took an early lead as Danielle van de Donk created space for Vivianne Miedema to fire home from just inside the box.
Scotland hit back though with a beautifully executed goal just two minutes later. Kelly Clark's precise lofted through ball released Claire Emslie in the channel and the winger showed great composure to roll the ball into the far corner.
In an open first half, van de Donk passed up two further opportunities while Miedema's header came back off the crossbar.
Scotland were competitive in a tight second half, with Caroline Weir and Emslie both testing home keeper Daphne van Domselaar.
The Scots made six changes as the friendly wore on and it was the Netherlands who eventually prevailed late on, as Fenna Kalma tapped in a rebound following a Lee Gibson save to seal a 2-1 victory.
