The quarter-final action got underway on Friday night when Inverness Caledonian Thistle hosted Kilmarnock on BBC Scotland.

The visitors had a dream start when Kyle Vassell bundled home after three minutes to score for the second Scottish Cup match in succession.

The hosts hit back though and Sean Welsh hit the bar before Billy McKay levelled the scores from the penalty spot after Joe Wright's handball.

The hosts completed the comeback early in the second half as Welsh's low shot from distance beat Sam Walker to send Inverness into the semi-finals for the second time in five years.

Celtic were next to book their place in the semi-finals as they secured a comfortable win over Hearts at Tynecastle on Saturday.

Aaron Mooy's coolly taken opener set the tone and Kyogo Furuhashi's deft flick from a Alastair Johnston centre made it 2-0 after Joe Hart had kept out Toby Sibbick with a superb save.

Hearts stayed in the game in the second period but Cameron Carter-Vickers eventually made the game safe with ten minutes remaining. He headed home Matt O'Riley's free-kick to secure a return to Hampden for the Viaplay Cup champions.

Scottish Cup holders Rangers were in action on Sunday lunchtime against Championship side Raith Rovers and the Fife club gave them an early scare when Esmael Goncalves' remarkable shot from his own half drifted just wide.

Raith almost held out until half-time but their defence was eventually breached in the 42nd minute when Connor Goldson's header broke the deadlock.

Rangers extended their lead with a Ryan Nolan own goal and Scott Arfield wrapped up the win with a composed finish to complete a 3-0 victory.

Falkirk and Ayr United round off the Scottish Cup weekend when they play on Monday night in front of the BBC Scotland cameras.
