A bumper Fourth Round weekend got underway on Friday night as Aberdeen travelled to Hamilton to face Clyde. Aberdeen had been shocked by Darvel at this stage 12 months ago and they were given an early scare when the host's Connor Young curled against the post early on following a neat move.
Clyde were disciplined and kept the Dons at bay for just over half an hour before the clinical Bojan Miovski gave the visitors the lead with a smart first-time finish.
And Aberdeen would put the game to bed just before the hour mark, as Nicky Devlin's low strike secured a comfortable 2-0 win that put them into the hat for Round Five.
The next match also saw League Two up against the Premiership as Hearts made the short trip to Ainslie Park to face Spartans. It looked like it was going to be a straightforward afternoon for the Tynecastle side when Kenneth Vargas headed home Jorge Grant's dangerous cross to give them an early lead but it proved anything but.
Scotland goalkeeper Craig Gordon was kept busy on his return, saving well from Callum Booth and Ayrton Sonku before James Craigen's stunning curling strike brought Spartans level.

It looked as if the tie was getting towards extra-time, before Hearts' late pressure eventually told in added time as Frankie Kent headed home to break Spartans hearts.
11 ties took place in the traditional Saturday afternoon slot, with Brora Rangers' tie with Cove Rangers the only one to fall victim to the weather.
Partick Thistle produced the performance of the day as they exacted revenge on Ross County for their dramatic Premiership Play-Off Final defeat at the end of last season. Brian Graham poked the Jags in front after 37 minutes and Scott Robinson tucked home a rebound to make it 2-0 before the break.
And Stuart Bannigan added gloss with a spectacular volley after the ball had been cleared from a corner to give Thistle an outstanding 3-0 win.
Airdrionians also knocked out Premiership opposition as Nikolay Todorov's close-range finish gave them a 1-0 victory over 2021 Scottish Cup winners St Johnstone.
Bonnyrigg Rose produced the other major shock as Angus Mailer's goal at the death gave them a 2-1 win over League One runaway leaders Falkirk.
Motherwell were given a scare by League One Alloa as Conor Sammon's goal had the Wasps level for a large chunk of the match until goals from Georgie Gent and Blair Spittal saw Well to a much-needed 3-1 victory.
Livingston were also in danger when Jack Hamilton gave Raith Rovers the lead but Jamie Brandon and Daniel Mackay hit back to give the Lions their first win since October.
Two other Premiership sides - Hibs and St Mirren - were also tested by lower league opponents before securing a hard-fought 1-0 wins against Forfar Athletic and Queen of the South respectively.
Last year's beaten finalists Inverness - whose supporters and staff produced a mammoth effort to clear the pitch of snow in the build-up - are safely through to Round Five after a routine 2-0 win over Lowland League side Broomhill.
Kilmarnock are also in the hat for tomorrow night's draw after two goals from Kyle Vassell and Marley Watkins in the first three minutes saw them on their way to a 2-0 win over Dundee at Rugby Park.
Rangers took on League Two side Dumbarton in Saturday's evening kick off and the hosts very nearly got their noses in front when Michael Ruth's close-range effort cannoned off the face of Gers' goalkeeper Robby McCrorie.
But it would be the visitors who took the lead on 35 minutes through John Lundstram's back-post header and Cyriel Dessers doubled their lead just before half-time.
James Tavernier added a third from the penalty spot before Matthew Shiels produced a memorable moment for the Sons as his flicked header pulled a goal back. Scott Wright's breakaway fourth saw Rangers safely through and into the hat for Sunday's Fifth Round Draw.
The final tie of the weekend saw Highland League Buckie Thistle travel to last season's winners, Celtic. In wet and windy conditions, the 46 league places between the sides proved pivotal, as the home side entered the break with a 3-0 lead thanks to goals from Paulo Bernardo,Odin Holm and Kyogo.
Brendan Rodgers' side started the second half as they finished the first, with Luis Palma getting in on the scoring. 18 year-old Rocco Vata then came off the bench to make it five, and see his side comfortably into the Fifth Round draw.
