Steve Clarke has named his first Scotland squad of 2022 ahead of two big matches, which will see a £10 donation from each ticket sold for the first match against Poland supporting UNICEF’s humanitarian response in Ukraine.
Bologna FC teenager Aaron Hickey has been rewarded for his form in Italy’s Serie A with a first call-up to the senior squad. The 19 year-old full-back has made 26 appearances for his side this season, putting him in an elite bracket of teenagers who have played the most minutes in Europe’s top five leagues.
Ryan Jack returns to the squad for the first time since November 2020 after his recovery from injury, while David Marshall is called up for the first time since EURO 2020, having earned the number one jersey at Queens Park Rangers.
Grant Hanley also returns after missing the November fixtures last year due to injury, though fellow centre halves Liam Cooper and John Souttar miss out due to injury.
Scotland will play now play Poland on 24 March at Hampden following FIFA’s decision to postpone Scotland’s FIFA World Cup Play-Off Semi-Final against Ukraine due to the ongoing conflict, and the cancellation of Poland’s scheduled tie with Russia.
Tickets will go on sale at 1pm today, Tuesday, 15 March – exclusively to Scotland Supporters Club members – before going on general sale at 1pm on Thursday, 17 March.
Scotland will then travel to play the loser of the FIFA World Cup Play-off Semi-final between Wales and Austria on Tuesday, 29 March.
