Scotland Women’s National Team will head to the south of Spain next month to take part in this year’s Pinatar Cup.
It’s the fourth time that Scotland will take part in the competition after winning the inaugural tournament in 2020.
The competition will follow a slightly different format this year with two fixtures, replacing the three-match format from previous iterations.
Pedro Martinez Losa’s side will kick off their 2024 fixture calendar against the Philippines on Saturday, 24 February. The winner of that game will face either Slovenia or Finland, with the losing teams battling it out for third spot in the second of two fixtures on Tuesday, 27 February.
Rachel Corsie and Lauren Davidson both netted against the Philippines in last year’s competition to secure a 2-1 win. The Scots also emerged victorious against Finland in an international friendly last summer with the same scoreline - Caroline Weir and Emma Watson on the scoresheet. Scotland last faced Slovenia in 2016 – running out 3-1 winners in a European qualifier.
Participation in this year’s competition will be the final preparation before UEFA Women’s EURO 2025 qualifiers begin in April.
