FIFA Women's World Cup Qualifiers
Scotland v Faroe Islands
Tuesday, 21 September, kick-off 7.35pm
Hampden Park, Glasgow

Scotland return home after a victorious trip to Budapest as they continue their bid for World Cup Qualification under the lights at Hampden Park.

In manager Pedro Martinez Lisa’s first home fixture, the Women’s National Team take to the Hampden turf for the first time since the National Stadium became the team’s official home.

Team News

Martinez Losa has had to contend with a number of changes since naming his 23-player squad at the start of the month.

Rachael Boyle and Lizzie Arnot were both called-up along with Glasgow City's Lauren Davidson and Jenna Clark, with the former making her debut for the senior side in Budapest and the latter potentially in line to follow suit.

Kirsty Smith, Lucy Graham, Caroline Weir and Lisa Evans are all out of the original squad.

Previous Meetings

The last time we took on the Faroe Islands was back in September 2014, when a dominant Scotland side emerged 9-0 victors at Fir Park.

Pre-Match Thoughts

Pedro Martinez Losa called on his players to take one game at a time in their 2023 World Cup aspirations.

After opening the group with an organised, impressive 2-0 win away from home against Hungary, the Spaniard called upon the supporters to back his players at Hampden on Tuesday night.

Reflecting on the win in Hungary, the manager said: “I'm really proud of the players’ effort. We are very pleased with a lot of aspects.

“Key games in the past were decided on a lack of organisation. I'm very happy with the number chances we created. We deserved to score at least one or two more goals."

Looking ahead to Tuesday night, he added: “We need the fans for the qualification; that can be the extra for us to be in the World Cup.”
