FIFA Women's World Cup Qualifiers
Scotland v Hungary
Friday, 22 October, kick-off 7.35pm
Hampden Park, Glasgow
Scotland aim to make it three wins from three in their FIFA World Cup Qualification bid as they welcome Hungary to Hampden Park on Friday night.
Pedro Martinez Losa’s side racked up seven goals in their last fixture at the national stadium last month, following up their 2-0 victory over Hungary in Budapest with a 7-1 win over Faroe Islands. They now welcome Hungary for the return fixture as they aim to keep pace with Spain in the race for qualification.
Team News
Caroline Weir and Lisa Evans return to the squad having missed out in September due to injury, along with Amy Muir who is recalled, though Martha Thomas misses out due to injury.
Erin Cuthbert will be aiming to become the first SWNT player to score in four consecutive fixtures since Jane Ross in 2013, while Chloe Arthur will hope to add to the two goals she scored in the last match – her first goals for the national team.
Previous meetings
The sides played only last month in Pedro Martinez Losa’s first match as Head Coach of Scotland. Goals from Erin Cuthbert and Martha Thomas in the Hidegkuti Nandor Stadium in Budapest gave Scotland the perfect start in their bid to qualify for back to back World Cups.
The previous meeting between the two sides in September 2017 saw goals from Lana Clelland, Claire Emslie and Jane Ross seal a 3-0 friendly victory. The match was also a first in charge for a Scotland Head Coach, with Shelley Kerr getting her reign off to the perfect start.
Pre-match thoughts
Pedro Martinez Losa: "I really enjoyed the last camp, it’s something I’ve been looking forward to since I took my new position – to work with the players, to produce good football and put our message across. Being able to do it for the first time was really exciting for me.

“We received a lot of answers in terms of what is needed and where we want to go. Most importantly the spirit, the integration and the environment were really positive.
“Getting two good results did not happen just from playing, it happens from inside and the work the players put in, so the work and the application from the players was great. That’s what we have to keep doing in the forthcoming camps.
"I think it’s about building this habit and making the players believe they are great at that and having the energy to continue growing.
"In terms of the work that we want to do with the players the good part is we have more time because we are not travelling. We only have one competitive game so from one side we can cover more things with the group.”
